Caring for Wee Gallery Wooden Keepsake Toys
Wee Gallery wooden toys are made to be loved — and with a little care, they can be passed down through generations. Here's how to keep them looking their best and safe for little hands.
Cleaning Your Wooden Toys
A gentle approach goes a long way with wood. For everyday clean-ups, try one of these:
- Spot clean with a non-toxic cleaner, a mild soap and water solution, or a 1:1 (or weaker) mix of white or apple cider vinegar and water.
- Use a soft, damp cloth or brush — nothing abrasive.
- Never soak or submerge wooden toys in water. This can cause warping and cracking over time.
- Dry straight away with an absorbent cloth, then leave to air dry away from direct sunlight.
Maintaining Moisture (Teething Rings)
Teething rings benefit from a little extra care to stop the wood drying out. Every now and then, rub them with olive oil or a non-toxic, food-grade beeswax polish — Bee Luna Natural Beeswax Polish works really well for this.
Our other wooden toys come with a protective, non-toxic varnish, so they don't need this treatment.
Storing Wooden Toys Properly
- Keep wooden toys away from damp environments and out of prolonged direct sunlight.
- A little sunlight is fine, but too much can cause fading and cracking over time.
Safety and Durability
- Wee Gallery wooden toys are built to last, but wood isn't indestructible.
- If a toy becomes broken or cracked, remove it from children straight away.
- Scratches and dents are completely natural — they're part of the toy's story and add character over time.
- These are toys meant to be cherished, creating memories that last well beyond childhood.
