Wear second-hand clothes!

I’m a big fan of second-hand shopping, and I love finding clothes that have a history.
🌿I wear 80% second-hand clothes, 15% of my old clothes, 5% new clothes.

💚My favorite second-hand shops in NY: @nycfairtrade@ltrainvintage, & @beaconscloset.

🏭The fashion industry produces about 10% of annual global carbon emissions, which is more than all maritime shipping and international flights combined.

👗Clothing and textiles currently make up at least 7% of the total amount of waste in global landfill space. Between 80 and 100 billion new clothing garments are produced globally every year.

🗑️87% of the materials and fibers used to make clothing will end up in either incinerators or landfills.
And when customers throw away clothing in the garbage, not only does it waste money and resources, but it can take 200+ years for the materials to decompose in a landfill. During the decomposition process, textiles generate greenhouse methane gas and leach toxic chemicals and dyes into the groundwater and our soil.
