Our efforts to reduce our CO2 emissions generated by the sending of your orders mean that today Closiist is Carbon Positive on its shipments.

We combine Sendle, that offsets shipments CO2 emissions by supporting projects around the world, with Greensparks that allow us to do more to protect our planet.

With the help of Greenspark we voluntarily offset 7kg of CO2 and remove 2 plastic bottles from the oceans with each order at no extra cost to you.

Why 7kgs (15.43 lb)?

We took the average Carbon Emission of a 2lb package ground sent from NYC to LA and multiply that number by 4.

Why 2 bottles?

Millions of plastic bottles pollute our oceans every year, two standard bottles are a daily recommended water intake. We're committed to cleaning them up.

Saltverk es una empresa de reciente creación que fabrica sal marina en escamas de forma artesanal, utilizando un método de dos siglos de antigüedad, en los fiordos occidentales de Islandia. Está situada en una pequeña península, Reykjanes, que separa dos fiordos, rodeada de altas montañas.
Reykjanes tiene una de las aguas de mar más limpias imaginables, que es la materia prima utilizada para fabricar sal marina, donde la corriente del Océano Ártico Norte desciende por la bahía de Isafjardardjup. En Reykjanes existe una animada vida silvestre compuesta por ballenas, focas y aves. Por no hablar de los géiseres, de los que el lugar toma su nombre, que todavía están activos y repartidos por todo Reykjanes.
Durante todo este proceso utilizamos agua de géiser caliente a 206 °F (93 °C) de las aguas termales de Reykjanes, donde la utilizamos en el proceso de precalentamiento, ebullición y secado de nuestra sal. La energía geotérmica es la única fuente de energía utilizada, lo que hace que durante todo nuestro proceso dejemos huella de carbono cero en el medio ambiente y ninguna emisión de CO2 y CH4.
Bombeamos el agua de mar a recipientes abiertos donde la precalentamos hasta que se convierte en una salmuera fuerte, con un nivel de salinidad del 17-20%. Luego hervimos la salmuera hasta que aparecen cristales blancos en la superficie y caen lentamente al fondo de la cacerola. A continuación sacamos la cacerola y escurrimos el líquido restante. Luego se seca y se envasa.
