Keep little hands warm without slowing them down. These hand knitted alpaca glittens are the clever middle ground between gloves and mittens — fingerless for dexterity, with a flip-over hood to cover the fingers when the cold really sets in. Crafted in the Andean highlands of Bolivia, they make a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gift for any child who spends time outdoors.

✨ Features

  • 🧤 Glitten Design: Fingerless gloves with an attached hood that flips over the four fingers when needed — giving kids the best of both worlds.
  • 👍 Smart Thumb Opening: A knitted slot at the thumb joint lets kids pop their thumb out easily, even when the hood is up.
  • 🏔️ Hand Knitted in Bolivia: Each pair is individually hand knitted by skilled artisans in Andean alpaca communities, many situated above 12,000 feet.
  • 🌿 Natural Fibre Blend: Made from 70% alpaca and 30% sheep wool — naturally warm, soft, and breathable.
  • 📏 Generous Fit: Designed to fit most children aged 5–8 years, with a good range of stretch across sizes.
  • 🤝 Fair Trade Sourced: Purchased directly from local knitters under fair trade conditions, supporting traditional Andean craft communities.

💛 Benefits

  • 🌡️ Warmth When It Counts: Alpaca fibre is naturally warmer than standard wool, making these ideal for cold mornings, school runs, and outdoor play.
  • 🖐️ Hands-Free Flexibility: The fingerless design means kids can use their hands freely — no more taking gloves off to tie laces or use a zip.
  • 🎁 A Gift Worth Giving: Beautifully made and genuinely useful, these glittens are a gift that stands out — ideal for birthdays, Christmas, or any special occasion.
  • ♻️ Sustainably Made: Handcrafted in small Andean communities using traditional methods, with no mass production involved.
  • 🐑 Soft on Sensitive Skin: Alpaca fibre is naturally hypoallergenic and gentler than many standard wool blends.

About Purely Alpaca

Since then, Purely Alpaca has grown from a small farm store into a leading brand known for its award-winning alpaca products, blending artisanal craftsmanship with modern design. Their move to Ramona, California in 2016 gave them space to expand, ship faster, and continue innovating with new alpaca apparel and accessories.

What makes alpaca so special? Unlike traditional wool, alpaca fiber is lightweight, luxuriously soft, non-itchy, and naturally hypoallergenic. Its semi-hollow fibers act as excellent insulators, keeping you warm even when wet, while also being moisture-wicking and odor-resistant. This makes alpaca the “smarter wool”—eco-friendly, durable, and incredibly comfortable.

🌎 Sustainability at Its Core
Alpacas themselves are gentle on the earth:

They eat less than other livestock.

Their soft padded feet protect the soil.

Even their manure makes an excellent, balanced fertilizer.
And because alpaca fiber processing is non-polluting and requires only simple soap, it’s one of the most sustainable textiles available.

🧦 Customer Favorite of 2024
