What if we didn't have to choose between economic growth and a liveable planet? In A Philosopher's Guide to Natural Capitalism: A Sustainable Future Within Reach, Professor Wayne I. Henry makes a rigorous and thought-provoking case that Capitalism — properly reimagined — can be a vehicle for sustainability rather than a barrier to it. Whether you're a student, an educator, or simply a curious reader who wants to understand the economic roots of the climate crisis, this book offers a clear, interdisciplinary path forward.

📖 What's Inside

  • 🌱 Part I – A Model for Natural Capitalism: Henry lays out a concrete economic framework for a sustainable form of Capitalism, drawing on current literature and real-world policy thinking.
  • 🔍 Part II – Philosophical Analysis: Moving beyond exposition, Henry rigorously critiques the Classical Liberal narrative — reconstructing it carefully to reveal why it has endured and why it no longer fits our current reality.
  • ⚖️ Part III – Normative Perspective: A deep examination of Classical Liberalism and globalized Capitalism, assessing the ethical implications of the economic system it supports.
  • 🤝 Conclusion – Two Narratives Compared: Henry draws the threads together, contrasting Classical Liberalism with Progressive Liberalism — the philosophy that underpins Natural Capitalism.
  • 📚 Illustrated: Yes — supporting visuals included throughout.
  • 📄 286 pages of carefully researched, accessibly written argument.
