About the Artwork
59 Rue de Rivoli sits in the busiest shopping district of Paris. In 1999, after the building had been vacant for 15 years, a group of artists broke in and created a squat to bring it back to life as a liberated art space. After some legal wrangling, it was eventually designated a legal art space.
Gene Dominique is a visual artist based in Atlanta, Georgia and the San Francisco Bay Area. His photography often feels like something to be encountered physically, which makes it a natural fit for a puzzle.
