Some scarves keep you warm. This one tells a story worth sharing. Made from Grade A Himalayan cashmere, hand-loomed in Nepal by blind, deaf, and disabled artisans, this oversized charcoal scarf is as meaningful as it is soft. Wear it as a scarf, drape it as a wrap — either way, it's the kind of piece you'll reach for again and again. It makes a genuinely thoughtful gift for anyone who appreciates quality with purpose.
✨ Features
- 🧣 Grade A Himalayan Cashmere: Hand-loomed from 100% Himalayan cashmere — widely regarded as some of the softest in the world.
- 📏 Oversized Dimensions: 79" L x 26" W — generously sized to wear as a scarf or a wrap.
- 🌿 Handmade in Nepal: Each scarf is crafted by hand in Pokhara, Nepal, by artisans with visual, hearing, or physical disabilities.
- 🎨 One-of-a-Kind: Because every piece is hand-loomed, slight variations in colour and texture make each scarf entirely unique.
- ⚖️ Unisex Design: A timeless, versatile style that works for everyone.
- 🧺 Easy Care: Dry clean or hand wash cold; lay flat to dry.
💛 Benefits
- 🌡️ Warm Without the Weight: Cashmere is naturally insulating and incredibly light — you stay cosy without feeling bundled up.
- 🤲 Gentle on Skin: The ultra-fine fibres feel soft against even sensitive skin, making it comfortable for all-day wear.
- 🎁 A Gift With Meaning: When you give this scarf, you're supporting artisans who might otherwise have no access to fair, independent work. That's a story the recipient will love too.
- ♻️ Conscious Craftsmanship: Buying this scarf directly supports a non-profit in Nepal that provides tools, training, and resources — including white canes, hearing aids, and wheelchairs — to the disabled community.
- 👗 Effortlessly Versatile: Equally at home draped over a coat on a winter evening or wrapped loosely over a summer dress.
🌏 The Story Behind the Scarf
Nepal and Tibetan Himalayan cashmere is sourced from the soft undercoat of mountain goats — it takes the fleece of around three goats to produce a single scarf. Every piece in this collection is woven by hand in Pokhara by artisans who are blind, deaf, or living with a disability. In Nepal, disabled individuals face significant barriers to employment and independence. The non-profit organisation behind these scarves changes that — offering training, fair wages, and ongoing community support. Purchasing this scarf contributes directly to that mission.

About SLATE + SALT
Slate + Salt is a socially conscious lifestyle brand offering a curated collection of modern, one-of-a-kind pieces handcrafted by artisans around the world. Their collections include jewelry, accessories, textiles, and decorative objects — all created using traditional techniques and fair trade practices.
Their mission is simple and powerful: to connect modern design with ancient craftsmanship, while supporting dignified work opportunities in communities facing extreme poverty.
Slate + Salt works closely with small social enterprises and Fair Trade cooperatives to ensure that every product supports ethical production, fair wages, and long-term economic empowerment — especially for women artisans.
Every item has a story.
Behind each piece is a person, a family, and a community. By choosing ethically produced goods, you help artisans remain in their villages, support their families, educate their children, and preserve cultural traditions that might otherwise disappear.
Because all products are handmade and often hand-dyed, each piece is naturally unique. Slight variations are part of their beauty — a reminder that these are not mass-produced objects, but human creations made with care.
Slate + Salt was founded by an avid traveler who fell in love with the people, cultures, and craftsmanship she encountered across developing countries. Through deep relationships with artisan groups and Fair Trade partners, the brand brings meaningful, ever-evolving collections to a global community that values beauty with purpose.
At Clozist, we are proud to feature Slate + Salt because their work reflects what we believe in: products that are beautiful, ethical, meaningful — and that create positive impact through everyday choices.
