The fight for our oceans continues, and a champion for marine conservation needs our help. On July 21st, Captain Paul Watson, founder of the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, was arrested by Danish authorities in Nuuk, Greenland.
Why was Captain Watson arrested?
The arrest appears to be based on a previously deactivated Red Notice issued by Japan for Captain Watson's past efforts to stop whaling in the Antarctic. This action comes despite the International Court of Justice ruling Japan's whaling program illegal in 2014. We believe this arrest is politically motivated and an attempt to silence Captain Watson's vital work.
