# Embracing Solid Hair Care: My Journey with Eco-Friendly Shampoos and Conditioners

Hello! I’m Julie Thibault-Dury, co-owner of Closiist, a marketplace dedicated to proving that it’s possible to do business sustainably while competing with giants like Amazon. Today, I want to share my personal journey with solid shampoos and conditioners.

For years, I was meticulous about the fruits and vegetables I consumed and the skincare products I chose. However, despite my efforts, I was also bleaching my hair regularly. This took a toll on my hair health, leaving it dry and damaged—almost beyond repair. It felt like straw! No matter how expensive or high-quality the shampoos I tried, I just couldn’t find a solution.

Then one day, everything changed when I discovered solid shampoo and conditioner. I experimented with various brands in France and the U.S. until I finally found the perfect match. To my relief, my hair gradually became less damaged, even after enduring the changes that come with my second pregnancy. It took about six months, but my hair eventually returned to a healthy state.

This journey led me to Lisa, a talented hairdresser in Florida. After overcoming several health challenges, she decided to create her own line of hair care products. We connected through our shared passion for ecology and sustainability, and it was an easy decision to add her products to Closiist. They perfectly align with our selection criteria, and after three years of use, my entire family swears by them.

I especially love the Travel Kit, which includes a shampoo, conditioner, body moisturizer, face and bust cream, facial cleansing pod, underarm aroma pod, lip balm, and toothpaste powder—all essential for travel! I also appreciate the Shampoo Bar designed for dry, treated, and curly hair.

This cute travel kit pouch has everything you need to be fresh while traveling. It includes: a Shampoo bar, a Conditioner bar, a Body Moisturizer bar, a Face & Bust cream, a Facial Cleansing pod, an Underarms Aroma pod, a Lip balm, and Toothpaste powder.  Onali Pure - Hydration Therapy - Natural Shampoo Bar for Dry, Damaged, or Color-Treated Hair

If you’re considering making the switch to solid shampoo, I recommend starting with Onali. My routine is simple: I wet my hair, glide the solid shampoo over my scalp, and let it rest on the side of the bathtub while I massage it in, just as I would with liquid shampoo. I usually do this twice, then rinse thoroughly and apply the conditioner to the lengths of my hair. After washing my body, I give my hair a final rinse, and when I’m feeling brave, I use cold water for that refreshing finish!

My son prefers to lather the shampoo in his hands before applying it to his short hair—he skips the conditioner altogether.

Incorporating solid shampoos and conditioners into my routine has not only improved the health of my hair but also aligned with my commitment to sustainability. I encourage you to explore this eco-friendly option—you might just find it transforms your hair care routine too!
