The Polar Steel SE is a DIY metal model kit that lets you build your own steam locomotive by hand. It's a hands-on project for anyone who loves trains, mechanics, or working with their hands, and it makes a thoughtful gift for the model-building enthusiast in your life. A steam locomotive moves itself and other vehicles through the expansion of steam, created by burning fuel like coal, oil, or wood to heat water in a boiler — and this kit brings that classic engineering to life piece by piece.

  • 🚂 Steam Locomotive Design: Modeled after a real steam locomotive, showing how fuel-heated water and steam expansion once powered the rails.
  • 🔧 DIY Assembly Kit: Build the model yourself from individual metal parts, piece by piece, at your own pace.
  • 🛠️ Metal Construction: Made from metal components for a sturdy, long-lasting finished model.
  • 📦 Complete Kit: Everything you need to assemble the locomotive comes in one package.

Benefits

  • 🎯 A Satisfying Challenge: Assembling the kit gives you a calm, focused activity away from screens.
  • 🎁 A Gift That Stands Out: A memorable present for birthdays, holidays, or any occasion for train lovers and hobbyists alike.
  • 🏆 Something to Be Proud Of: Once complete, you have a handmade steam locomotive model to display and show off.
  • 💡 Learn While You Build: Get a hands-on feel for how steam locomotives actually worked as you put the pieces together.

With the help of Greenspark we voluntarily offset 7kg of CO2 and remove 2 plastic bottles from the oceans with each order at no extra cost to you.

Why 7kgs (15.43 lb)?

We took the average Carbon Emission of a 2lb package ground sent from NYC to LA and multiply that number by 4.

Why 2 bottles?

Millions of plastic bottles pollute our oceans every year, two standard bottles are a daily recommended water intake. We're committed to cleaning them up.
