📋 How to Make It (Slow Cooker)

1. Remove the spice packet. Sort, rinse, and drain the beans.
2. Add the beans to your slow cooker with 4 cups of water or broth, making sure the beans are well covered.
3. Add the spice packet, onion, bell pepper, garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil. Pour in another 2–4 cups of water or broth until everything is covered. Hold off on the tomatoes for now.
4. Put the lid on, set to high, and cook for 6–8 hours — until the beans are tender.
5. Once the beans are soft, stir in the canned tomatoes and cook for another 10–15 minutes. If you're adding ground meat, brown it in a skillet first and add it in at this stage.

💡 Tip: Check in on the chili as it cooks — if the water level drops and the beans look exposed, top it up a little and carry on.
